RANGED MERCS:

Here is the NEW Ranged Merc Counter System for the 7 end game ranged mercs, which will serve as the foundation for the system.

Maraider > Sniper > Immortal > Brutalisk > Destroyer > Goliath > Lancer > (back to Maraider)
The full system and the attribute/focus mechanics are built around this counter ring.

>Each ranged merc hard counters (HC) one other ranged merc and soft counters (SC) two other ranged mercs.

RANGED MERCS vs. ranged: (I have ordered them so that each merc hard counters the one below it)
Maraider:-----HC= Sniper-------SC= Destroyer, Goliath
Sniper:-------HC= Immortal-----SC= Goliath, Lancer
Immortal:-----HC= Brutalisk-----SC= Lancer, Maraider
Brutalisk:-----HC= Destroyer----SC= Maraider, Sniper
Destroyer:----HC= Goliath-------SC= Sniper, Immortal
Goliath:------HC= Lancer-------SC= Immortal, Brutalisk
Lancer:-------HC= Maraider-----SC= Brutalisk, Destroyer

Unit Attributes and Damage Focuses:

Maraider:
Unit Attributes- Biological & Heavy
Damage Focuses- Light & Psionic

Sniper:
Unit Attributes- Light & Psionic
Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Armor

Immortal:
Unit Attributes- Mechanical & Armor
Damage Focuses- Massive & Heavy

Brutalisk (& Hydralisk):
Unit Attributes- Massive & Heavy
Damage Focuses- Psionic & Biological

Destroyer:
Unit Attributes- Psionic & Biological
Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Light

Goliath:
Unit Attributes- Mechanical & Light
Damage Focuses- Massive and Armor

Lancer (& Stalker):
Unit Attributes- Massive & Armor
Damage Focuses- Biological & Heavy

>Each melee merc also each hard counters 1 ranged merc and soft counters 2 mercs.

Crackling----HC= Imortal------SC= Goliath, Lancer
Tankling-----HC= Destroyer----SC= Maraider, Sniper
Warplot------HC= Lancer------SC= Imortal, Brutalisk
Templot-----HC= Brutalisk-----SC= Lancer, Maraider
Devil Dog----HC= Sniper-------SC= Destroyer, Goliath
Beetle-------HC= Goliath------SC= Sniper, Imortal
Reaver-------HC= Maraider----SC= Brutalisk, Destroyer

Unit Attributes and Damage Focuses:
Each melee merc has only 1 attribute which means that no unit hard counters it with a double attribute focus.

Crackling:
Unit Attributes- Light
Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Armor

Tankling:
Unit Attributes- Biological
Damage Focuses- Psionic & Biological

Warplot:
Unit Attributes- Armor
Damage Focuses- Massive and Armor

Templot:
Unit Attributes- Psionic
Damage Focuses- Massive & Heavy

Devil Dog (& Firebat):
Unit Attributes- Mechanical
Damage Focuses- Light & Psionic

Beetle (& Roach):
Unit Attributes- Heavy
Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Light

Reaver:
Unit Attributes- Massive
Damage Focuses- Biological & Heavy


Note: melee units do have damage focuses the “soft counter” other melee units but melee vs melee countering is more due to unit mechanics than to damage focuses. A lot of melee units will loose vs other melee units that they have a bonus against due to the mechanics between the units. Therefore ignore melee vs melee damage bonuses.

Scout:
Unit Attributes - Light, Psionic, Flying
Damage Focuses - Psionic, Biological
Good vs: Destroyer, Sniper, Mutalisk
Bad vs: Mariader Brutalisk, Wraith

Note:
Air vs Air counter system is:
Mutalisk > Voidray > Wraith > Scout > Mutalisk

Please bear in mind that once this goes into effect there will need to be a significant amount of balancing with base damage, bonus damage, and hp
