My only contact with Josin is via forum PM. He usually checks it about once a week - as I understand it, he's very busy with work-related obligations. I would expect a publish this weekend.

If we rename the test map and start promoting it, it will be found and eventually used. No reason at this point to stay tied to Josin if he's not going to be around to publish changes. There aren't enough active maps in SC2 that promoting your version will be a problem. I tried to get a lobby active the other day but the word "test" in it was probably the reason people didn't join.

Bugs are going to be an issue - understood at this point - but why I said MA RIP was because bugs simply cannot linger like this for days and days. Clearly you fixed them (thanks!), so why not cut bait from Josin at this point?

I say rename your map and take it over officially. It's been done successfully many times before with many other maps.

My $.02..

As much work as I have done recently on the map, Josin is still the lead developer and the owner of this forum. I would rather not stage a coup unless he completely walks away from MA - otherwise we may end up in a situation similar to EU MA, which I would love to avoid.

I have asked him in my latest PM about potentially publishing to a shared account, instead of to either of our personal accounts. I think he'll probably agree, unless he has a good reason not to. Will keep you guys posted on that.

Agree. Test map makes it harder to attract players.

do not publish the map under a different username, every time it has been done we have lost alot of players, from crayon - ash - josin, if Josin doesnt wanna share his account with you maybe he will with me? considering i had access to ash and even crayons at one point i think.

anyways if ya need any help lemme know.

IKR... was my thought exactly. Akash rocks though.. honestly. Test map works like a champ (played it earlier today). It's too bad we can't get this published <sigh>

Ok, so here's what Josin said:
     josin wrote:
I would be willing to let you move the map to a new account but the trouble is it resets the maps popularity. It would no longer show up on the arcade and it could permanently kill the map, especially since the forum is not nearly as busy as it used to be
I'm available to publish weekends

This mirrors what Roman said a few posts ago:
     roman wrote:

So, I'm willing to try if you guys want - need feedback on this, and will need a lot of help from you guys to spread the word if we go through with it. Note, however, that both Josin and Roman have recommended strongly against it. Please voice your opinions!

IMO - if he's available to publish on weekends, then as a community we need to be more proactive in testing your larger changes on your test-map. Game-breaking bugs will exist on the map for upwards of a week if they aren't caught before release, so changes made to the map that seem to be larger need to be tested and played with numerous people before you actually publish. Not sure if that is realistic, but I think that's the only solution. I"ll do my part and test out your map as you publish new things.

@akash I don't think having someone else publish a whole new map is necessary. I think the best thing to do is to just ask Josin if you, Roman, or someone who is active and who he trusts can have his account info and just log in from time to time in order to publish updates. I would trust akash with my account info if he needed it <B [derisive]

This, in my opinion, is the best solution, and is what I intended originally when I created the testmap. However, nobody played it, and if they did, they didn't report the bugs.

Edit: Chaos, just saw your post - will take a look.

I thought the guys with the Map Tester flag purpose was to test the map. Perhaps these are legacy people. At any-rate, let us know when a new test map comes out, I'll happily help try the thing out. It would be helpful to dump the "test map" in the title. I don't know why but that drives people away and the only way I can find the existing test map is by looking for the newest maps.

I was the last active tester lol, the rest are retired. I would be willing to give someone new the title as well, if they can demonstrate consistency and thoroughness in testing, significant community contribution, and a personality befitting the position (no BM) - these are the same requirements as in the past.

Testmap is named that way so people know it's experimental - just bookmark it for easy access.

I’m down for adding new map testers that Akash chooses.

I agree, basically everyone is tester no need to really give anyone a title but doesnt really matter i guess. Doesnt hurt.
