So I have been working on this while, I know there may be a lot of grammar changes or typos that need to be fixed thus why I am posting this here so you guys can help me finish it completely.

This guide is really an introduction to ma structures and the units that come from them, obviously there will have be additional guides to further explain things like abilities and to cover the countering better but we have to start somewhere right?

I tried to include things that isn't blatantly obvious to many people like the ability to start and stop an ally's marines who had left at the beginning of a game or how the tower abilities are improved by hero level ups ect, if there are more I have missed please post here and I will add them.

I hope this helps some people and with the options to expand maybe some can help write the intermediate and advanced guides as well.

nice work. It's more presentable than any thing i've done.
How are you formatting that page? cuz that's a shit ton of tabling right?

i was guessing a second webpage would be simpler....

my current idea is PDF format with LaTeX lol

yea this old board still runs on tables so I just stuck with them, would have preferred using divs and one day when we upgrade to the latest responsive phpbb I will convert these custom pages to divs so they can be as well.

why not host the guide on a seperate site?

make your own format and stuff. It'll facilitate navigation, links to units etc.

Nice to have everything under one roof. plus if josin ever sends me the csv/xml file about units, I could intergrate not only a visual changelog of units, but tie them into guides as well.

I could add as many guides to the 3 categories as i want, for example, lets say my current one was an introdcution to structures/units and you wanted to write another basic guide about purchasing upgrades or positioning or whatever, I can make a sub choice for users to select from after clicking Basic on the main page.

right now the only means placing a page on this server is by me uploading it, so if I gave a template of everything in your guide must lie within div class"pockysguide">/div you could write up your own html, gather all the images into a single folder and I could just drop them onto the server and presto.

To further elaborate on phpbb custom pages, they all are templated through this format,
Code:
<!-- INCLUDE overall_header.html -->
<div id="pagecontent">

// your content here

</div>

<br clear="all" /><br>

<!-- INCLUDE breadcrumbs.html -->

<br clear="all" />

<div align="{S_CONTENT_FLOW_END}"><!-- INCLUDE jumpbox.html --></div>

<!-- INCLUDE overall_footer.html -->

Since this version of PHPBB was modeled after .info and uses the subsilver template, it is table based, hard coded 960px width MAX so your layout must either formatted to 960px or made responsive to fit 960px width. I could have wrote my guide in a responsive manor but I just choose not to.

The how to play section has it's own css, has it's own js that all get interlinked through the root of the ma style of phpbb which not a big deal. Images have their own folder and are linked through using a php variable rather than ./ or ../. Aside from that, pretty straight forward to writing a normal html, in fact the guides are .html and linked through a central php file.

There are a lot of grammar mistakes here along with formatting no-nos. Do you want me to post about them here or just not bother?

Also, what you called a merc barracks is a merc compound. You might want to switch the two so that your guide matches in-game tooltips.

yes please, list here. I will not take offense to any mistakes that need to be changed. This guide is for the community and everyone and needs to be accurate and easy to read.

I believe I used the names used when selecting the structure in game, i will change but I thought I had those right.

It looks great Sonoma! There are quite a few spelling/grammar mistakes, but those are easy to fix. Also, under the mercenary barracks section, where you have rotating pictures of the structures and command cards, the zealot/rauder pics are synced up while the ss/ling pics are not.

Marine upgrades section: It is stated that you cannot change epic/minor upgrades after buying them. While this is true for minors, you can change your epic upgrade by buying a new one for full price, and you can change back to one you have already bought for half price.

they are two separate gifs, they wouldn't ever be synced regardless. However to further make them not sync, I accidentally placed the order wrong on one, been debating if it's really worth fixing or not.

good catch on the epic upgrade, I will change that tonight.

Looks pretty cool i'll give u that. It'll be great if it can be built into the game itself.
