When you rationally think about it, the elites, alot of them provide so much value but the reward for killing them is very little. That automaticly unbalances the game.
You absolutly need to think of this game as a rock paper scissor. instead what we have now is rock, paper, scissor, gun, ak47, bomb and nuke. Whats the point of having so many options when you're limited with mineral upgrades? marine/merc/hero upgrades are meangless... what people do when they go elite is get the tankiest range they can get so they spam the special abilities.... what kind of RTS game is that? the open spaces are limited, the choke points are numerous... this game is more of a first person shooter than a strategy game.
You have said that you dont want an A to B game... well i think thats exactly what you got now, an A to B. Most of the time all people do is camp near their base and control their sight and a bit of mid... there's no fighting, flanking is next to impossible. If you fall behind to the score just a bit its super hard to get back to the game.
Heroes..... is there a less A to B feature of the game?
Man... this is an RTS. Real time strategy game... i repeat NOT a DOTA.
You have WAY to many options to be able to make balancing possible.
Remove the options so its easier to balance OR remove the Mineral aspect of the game so that you're not being punished when you lose an elite and you can try a different tactic LIVE and respect the REAL TIME STRATEGY ASPECT of starcraft.
Also:
There's 4 corners, when one corner is weak it gets rammed by the 2 adjacent corners, the opposite corner is left alone, its only choice is to be aggressive, fast and attack... which that means either air, rine/zerg , rine/zealots. But unfortunatly these setupes are not setups to get back to the game but to dominate the game when you're ahead. These setups are hard countered by most builds.
