Something very common in every scrim/high level game of MA, is for the first 10-15 minutes there's a lot of action and fighting and contesting middle, then... 30 minutes of poking and cliff fighting hoping 1 person loses an elite or gets a bad concave or got slightly out microed, with everyone not in 1st scared to move out because they might be instantly surrounded by the other 2 teams sitting afk in base.
At SD, everyone is constantly fighting and poking and pushing. Why not bring part of SD to the base gameplay? Even something like mid gives 4 minerals every 10 seconds, just so there's SOMETHING to use your lead/mass/hero to control, and something people want to push you out of. Add towers giving 2 minerals / 10 seconds if people still aren't playing the game. This also helps cross feed be less of an issue, because at least you can get some income while you're being avoided, and the people who are hard countered can rely on those who aren't to take mid from their counters.
Basically, add an SD-lite so the games don't slow to a crawl past 15 minutes.
