Here is the NEW Ranged Merc Counter System for the 7 end game ranged mercs, which will serve as the foundation for the system.
Maraider > Sniper > Immortal > Brutalisk > Destroyer > Goliath > Lancer > (back to Maraider) The full system and the attribute/focus mechanics are built around this counter ring.
>Each ranged merc hard counters (HC) one other ranged merc and soft counters (SC) two other ranged mercs.

Unit Attributes and Damage Focuses: Each melee merc has only 1 attribute which means that no unit hard counters it with a double attribute focus.
Crackling: Unit Attributes- Light Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Armor
Tankling: Unit Attributes- Biological Damage Focuses- Psionic & Biological
Warplot: Unit Attributes- Armor Damage Focuses- Massive and Armor
Templot: Unit Attributes- Psionic Damage Focuses- Massive & Heavy
Devil Dog (& Firebat): Unit Attributes- Mechanical Damage Focuses- Light & Psionic
Beetle (& Roach): Unit Attributes- Heavy Damage Focuses- Mechanical & Light

Note: melee units do have damage focuses the “soft counter” other melee units but melee vs melee countering is more due to unit mechanics than to damage focuses. A lot of melee units will loose vs other melee units that they have a bonus against due to the mechanics between the units. Therefore ignore melee vs melee damage bonuses.
